Back into Business - Tel Aviv Market Visit

So it has been a while.
I have been into so much, less into cooking more into eating, traveling and hosting people from far away. So I need to catch up and get updated with all the new events in the foodbloogsphere.

I would like to share a nice visit I had to the market next door. I am saying next door because it is literally two blocks away from where I live.
In Tel Aviv there are basically two main outdoor food markets, there is HaCarmel market which is relatively close to the center and there is the market which is more close to where I live and is called HaTikva Market (HaTikva means hope) which is located in Hatikva neighborhood.

This market which was very busy when we came is very wide and was recently renovated by the municipality. It has everything in it: fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, bread, you name it. The extra special feature of this market however is the fact there are many small shops that sale home-made cooking. One such store is "HAVIV". Well it is an Iraqi family which has a few stores around the market and they make the best "Kube" ever.

Kube is not strictly Iraqi but in Israel this food is identified with Iraqis. My Lebanese grandmother also prepares Kube but ours is different, it is smaller and fried. The Iraqis make Kube from virtually everything and it is normally not fried but boiled or served inside a soup. Kube can be made of different stuff (especially the Iraqi ones). Since I am not Iraqi and did not research the topic yet, I will give here a recipe for the Lebanese Kube which is different. After I will research the topic further, I will write more about it. In the following link you can find a recipe for Lebanese Kube (they call it Kibbe)
Here is another recipe for Lebanese Kibbeh. Now when I think about it, maybe it will be worthwhile to film my grandmother prepares Kube and publish the pictures on this blog - so this is my next project.

Beside that something very exciting happened to me, or I finally took an action and signed up to the professional baking class at Estella's. I am starting the course which will last half a year on October 10. Its all very exciting as it is a dream coming true. Hopefully I will manage to accompany my studies with writing ups and some photos from the various classes we will have.
